Retirement Statistics You Should Know

According to the Gallup Poll, 25% of seniors have already burned through their personal life savings and are in bad shape for retirement. About two-thirds of retirees take Social Security benefits as soon s possible, even though it is recommended to delay taking them to maximize the benefits. Sadly, most can't afford to wait. Even if seniors had lots of savings, financial institutions are paying near-zero interest rates on deposits, and when you calculate the rate of inflation, deposits at banks are actually losing money.

How does one make it in retirement? Often folks look to their homes and the equity built into it. There are two ways to to that - sell your home, or mortgage it. If you take a mortgage, you can  do it with a monthly payment or without one.
