I continue to share facts about reverse mortgages. One of the biggest misconceptions is that the borrower believes that he/she no longer own their home. This is NOT true. The borrowers continue to remain on title. Yes, the lender will have liens on the title, but ownership remains with the borrower. That means they are free to sell the property, paint it, leave it to whomever they want to. The fear that "I will lose my home" is not a rational one (yes, the borrower does have to continue living at the property, maintain it, keep taxes and insurance current).
